Car Chase Through Solon Ends With Arrest
Officers tried to stop a man for speeding. They didn't know the man had broken into a tow yard to steal his car back after an OVI charge.

SOLON, OH — Virgil Williams, 55, of Cleveland, allegedly broke into a Mayfield tow yard Sept. 25 to reclaim his vehicle, after it had been immobilized following an earlier arrest for impaired driving. After stealing the car back, Williams decided to draw the attention of police by speeding through the east side.
Solon Police initially spotted the vehicle going south on Harper Road, near Hawthorn Parkway, at a high rate of speed. Radar was used to confirm the man was speeding, recording the car driving 49 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The vehicle was also seen making lane violations and officers decided to pull Williams over, thinking they were dealing with a . Predictably, Williams refused to pull over. He sped up and got onto US 422 going west.
Solon cops chased Williams until the pursuit entered Garfield Heights. The chase was called off near Transportation Boulevard, but not before officers identified Williams and got his vehicle's registration.

Williams didn't elude officers for long. Cleveland Police arrested him soon after, at his address in the Cleveland.
Williams was charged with felony fleeing and eluding, driving under suspension and failure to maintain lanes in Solon. He may also face felony charges related to breaking into the tow yard. Those charges would come from Mayfield Village.
