Car Crashes Into Nestle Building In Solon

Police said a drunk driver drove off an entrance ramp, through a fence, over a sign, and into the building.

SOLON, OH — Part of Nestle's Solon campus was damaged when a drunk driver crashed through fencing, a sign and into one of the company's buildings. The damage appears to be minor, according to Solon police.

The crash happened a little after 10 p.m. on Monday. Police believe the drunk driver had been going east on US 422 when he got off on Harper Road and cut across all lanes to the Harper Road east entrance. That's when things may have gone haywire. The vehicle went off the entrance ramp, through a fence, over a sign, and crashed into the north side of the Nestle building at 30003 Bainbridge Road, police said.

The damage done to the building appeared to be minor, Lieutenant Bruce Felton of Solon Police told Patch.

The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are charging the man with operating a vehicle impaired, failure to control a vehicle and additional charges could be pending. The man's urine was submitted to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lab for examination. The results of that test could add additional charges.
