Car Thief Eludes Solon Police During Chase
Officers spotted a stolen car on US 422 and tried to stop the vehicle. Instead, the driver escaped.

SOLON, OH - Not every car chase has a happy ending. Solon Police spotted a stolen car on US 422 and attempted to stop the vehicle. A car chase ensued and the thief got away. But police may catch him yet. Read on to find out how.
OVI, SR 91: Police arrested a 69-year-old Warrensville man after a traffic stop for failing to maintain lane of travel. Police say they could smell alcohol when they approached the man's car. Field sobriety tests indicated the man was impaired and the man was arrested and taken to jail. He blew a .106 during a breath test. Police say there was also a child passenger in the man's car. Rodger Sims was charged with OVI, Prohibited BAC, Child Endangering, and Failure to Maintain Marked Lanes. A passenger Lucretia Corley, 35 of Bedford Heights, was arrested for two outstanding warrants and issued a citation for having an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.
Receiving Stolen Property, SR 91: A car chase on April 2 ended with a minor accident near Lee Road. Police spotted a stolen vehicle on US 422 and attempted to stop the car. Instead of yielding to police, the driver of the vehicle sped off and exited at Lee Road before sideswiping a vehicle. The pursuit was terminated, but patrol vehicle video is being examined to try and identify the driver.

Theft, GetGo: A 54-year-old Solon resident told police she left her credit car in the card reader at GetGo on April 1. The woman returned to the gas station but the card was gone and the employees said they had not seen a card and a card had not been turned in. The woman called her bank and learned that two purchases had been made, one at Market District and the other at a 7-Eleven in Solon. The vehicle in the video of 7-Eleven surveillance footage was recognized by police and the driver was employed at GetGo. Kenyatta Dunlap, 20 of Solon, was arrested for Theft.
OVI, Solon Road: Thomas Cheh, 63, of Solon, was arrested for OVI on April 3. He was stopped for driving 39 mph in a 25 mph zone on Timberland Drive. Officers smelled marijuana in his car, as well an odor of alcohol. Cheh's speech was slurred, his eyes bloodshot and watery. Field sobriety tests indicated the man was impaired and he refused a breath test. He was charged with OVI Speed, and No Seatbelt as well as Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, and having an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.
