Cleveland Water Asks Solon Residents to Boil Water
The organization is saying its a precaution, but residents in the Chagrin Valley need to boil their water for 1-3 minutes before use.

SOLON, OH - Portions of Cleveland Water's Third High Service Area are currently being asked to boil water they use to cook, drink, or brush their teeth with. Officials are saying that boiling water isn't necessary for bathing or showering, although you'll want to pay extra attention to your kids during bath time. You won't want them accidentally swallowing polluted water.
The agency sent out an alert late on Dec. 3 and said the precautionary boiling will have to stay in place until at least Monday, Dec. 5 at noon. That's when lab results on the water will come back and the agency will be able to lift the boil advisory.
The water is polluted due to a valve malfunction at the Green Road storage tank that happened before Cleveland Water could finish its bacteria tests. The possible bacteria-infected water has been impacting the following towns: Moreland Hills, Woodmere, Orange, Highland Hills, Warrensville Heights, North Randall, Beachwood, Bedford Heights, Solon, and Bentleyville.

The agency says that in this case “boiling” means holding the water to a rolling boil for three minutes and then letting it cool down before using it.
Local restaurants and other establishments have been impacted by the possibly bacteria laden water. That said, the agency did not believe any local establishments had closed due to the precautionary water boiling.
