Customer Threatens To Shoot Up Solon Store: Police

Plus, police had to arrest a gas station employee's mom after she allegedly refused to stop yelling at her son's coworker.

SOLON, OH — Two alleged threats were made at Solon businesses in the past 10 days, police said. A customer allegedly threatened to shoot up a local cell phone store and the mother of a gas station employee was arrested for cussing at her son's coworker and then fighting police.

On Tuesday, a BP 7-Eleven employee called police to say that a coworker had threatened her. Officers arrived and spoke to both staffers. The male worker was loud and agitated, police said, but the caller merely wanted him removed from the premises. The caller did not want to pursue charges.

However, while dealing with the conflict between workers, the man's mother showed up and began screaming profanities at the caller, police said. The mother appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Despite the efforts of police, the mother kept screaming and, after repeated warnings, officers placed the woman under arrest. She resisted, fighting the officers, until she was taken to the ground and handcuffed. She has been charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, and resisting.

About a week earlier, on October 10, police were called to Verizon Wireless on SOM Center, for reports of a customer threatening to shoot up the cell phone store.

When police arrived, the customer was still there. He told officers he was angry because the store didn't have the color of phone he wanted, but he denied making any threats.

However, employees at the store, and other customers, said the man had indeed threatened to shoot up the store. The man was given a misdemeanor citation for menacing, police said.
