Police will have a checkpoint set up on May 25 on Aurora Road and will be looking for impaired drivers all weekend.

SOLON, OH — Solon Police have released more information on their planned impaired driving checkpoint. The checkpoint will be setup in the vicinity of Aurora Road on May 25. Police said the operation would be conducted in the business district.

The police department will also be looking to crack down on drunk, or otherwise impaired, drivers during the holiday weekend. “We want the public to know that we will be out there for the benefit of the motoring public and pedestrians, working to make our roadways safe,” explains Ptl. Roy Cunningham.

There were 11,928 alcohol-related crashes on Ohio roadways last year. Those crashes led to 314 fatalities and 6,866 injuries.

The Solon Police Department said residents should make smart choices if they are going to be drinking:
