Drunken Driver Parks Car At Solon Gas Pump For 1 Hour

The driver told police they didn't think they had been parked there long, and that they hadn't been drinking too much.

SOLON, OH — A drunken driver parked at a gas station pump for more than an hour, drawing the attention of staff and the police.

At 2:40 a.m. on March 9, a caller from True North gas station contacted police and said a vehicle had been parked at one of the pumps for close to an hour. The caller used the station's speaker system to try and rouse the driver, but found no success.

Officers went to the gas station, on SOM Center Road, and saw the vehicle in question. THey approached the driver and immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from their person.

There was an open can of beer sitting in the front passenger seat. The driver told police they hadn't been parked at the gas station for long and then told officers she hadn't been drinking "a lot."

The driver, a 25-year-old Solon woman, was taken out of the car. After a series of field sobriety tests she was arrested and taken to the Bedford Heights Police Station.

At the police station, the woman took a breath test and blew a .150. She has been charged with physical control of a motor vehicle, prohibited BAC, and open container.
