Drunken Man Hits Parked Car In Solon, Police Say

A 50-year-old man is accused of drinking alcohol and smoking weed before hitting a car parked on Baldwin Road.

SOLON, OH — A Solon man is accused of hitting a parked car while driving drunk, police said. The man also admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the accident, according to Solon police records.

At about 11:20 p.m. on August 4, police were sent to a car crash on Baldwin Road. Officers arrived and learned a 50-year-old Solon man hit a car parked on the street.

While talking with the driver, officers smelled alcohol on the man. The driver was put through a series of field sobriety tests, which indicated he was impaired, police said, and then the man was taken into custody.

The 50-year-old was hurt in the crash and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. While on his way to see a doctor, the man told EMS he had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana about an hour before his car crash, police said.

Doctors collected a urine sample from the man at the hospital. That sample will be tested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol laboratories.

Police said the driver will be charged with operating a vehicle impaired.
