Falling Pants Prevent Red Bull Theft In Solon

A would-be thief tried to run off with cases of Red Bull, but his pants fell down, causing him to drop the stolen merchandise.

SOLON, OH — An attempted shoplifting went sideways when the would-be thief's pants fell down during his escape, causing him to drop the stolen merchandise. The thief had to bail on his plan and pick up his slacks and escape. Who knew belts were so important for thieves?

Solon Police said a man came into the 7 Eleven on Aurora Road at about 3:15 a.m. last Tuesday. The man picked up two cardboard boxes of Red Bull and asked the clerk how much they cost. The clerk told him and the man said he couldn't afford them.

The man started to put the boxes back on the shelf, but decided to dart out the door instead. Luckily, his feet didn't carry him far.

While running through the convenience store parking lot, the man's pants fell down and he dropped the cases of Red Bull.

The man picked up his pants, but left the energy drink. He was last seen running north across Aurora Road, police said. Apparently, no one told him that he could have grown wings if he had just drank one of the cans of Red Bull.
