Fireworks, Weed Found During Solon Traffic Stop

Police said they confiscated a large amount of fireworks from a driver on US 422.

SOLON, OH — Marijuana and fireworks were found inside a man's car during a traffic stop on US 422, Solon police said. Officers confiscated the fireworks.

According to police, on August 12, at 3:15 p.m., a car was stopped on US 422 westbound because of an equipment problem. When officers spoke with the driver, they could smell marijuana.

The driver, a 49-year-old Medina man, told police he had smoked marijuana and gave officers a small amount of weed and drug paraphernalia, police said. The man had a suspended driver's license, police said.

Officers then searched the man's car and found a large amount of fireworks stored in the back.

The driver said he had purchased the fireworks at a roadside stand in Pennsylvania. Officers confiscated the fireworks.

The driver faces possible charges for driving with a suspended license, drug abuse and possession of fireworks, police said.
