Fleeing Suspect Hits Dump Truck, Gets Arrested
The driver tried to speed away from cops but ran into the business end of a truck instead.

SOLON, OH — Fleeing from the police is always a bad idea. It was a really bad idea for a man who ended up colliding with a dump truck during his attempt at running. Read on for more information on that incident and others from the past week.
Having Weapons Under Disability, June 15 — Police stopped a car on Solon Road for driving with expired registration. An officer noticed that the driver, Michael Simpson, 38, of Cleveland, had an active arrest warrant for a felony probation violation. Simpson also stated that he forged the validation sticker because he did not have the registration fee. Simpson was arrested and a Colt .38 revolver was discovered in the center console. Simpson was charged with Having Weapons under Disability (felony 3), Expired Plates. Fictitious Plates, and Driver No Seatbelt.
Fleeing and Eluding, June 16 — An officer tried to stop a speeding car on US 422, doing 85 mph in a 60 mph zone. When the office turned on his lights to initiate a stop, the driver sped up and tried to flee but hit a dump truck. The driver jumped out of the car and began running on foot. He was eventually caught by officers. Gerald Johnson, 27 of Cleveland, was charged with felony fleeing and eluding, driving under suspension, drug abuse, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to control.

OVI, June 17 — Police stopped Wallace Burns, 34, of Garfield Heights, after he was seen making several lane violations. Officers noticed Burns smelled of alcohol and had red, bloodshot eyes. Field sobriety tests were performed and they indicated that Burns was intoxicated. A small bag of white powder was discovered in his car. Burns was charged with failure to maintain lanes, OVI, and possession of cocaine.
Furnishing Liquor to Minors, June 17 — Callers reported underage drinking and juveniles smashing beer bottles on Brandamore Court. Police located the residence where the incident was alleged to have taken place. The homeowner, Mikhail Nemirovskiy 56 of Solon, was issued a misdemeanor citation for allowing underage persons to consume alcohol; all others were assisted obtaining rides from responsible, sober drivers.
