Four Impaired Drivers Arrested In 3 Days In Solon

Two of the drivers may have been found in possession of narcotics.

SOLON, OH — Solon Police arrested four people for impaired driving between Jan. 26 and Jan. 28. Two of the drivers may also be facing charges for possession of controlled substances, pending lab results. Read more about those incidents below.

OVI, Jan. 26 — Police were called to the scene of a car accident at SR 91 and Cannon Road. One of the drivers, a 50-year-old from Bainbridge, had turned left into oncoming traffic, causing the accident. The woman smelled of alcohol so officers put her through field sobriety tests, which indicated she was impaired. She was arrested and taken to jail. She refused to take a breath test. She has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired and failure to yield.

OVI, Jan. 27 — Officers watched a car drift left of center on Harper Road at 12:39 a.m. Police stopped the car. The driver, a 56-year-old Solon man, smelled of alcohol. Police put him through field sobriety tests, which indicated he was impaired. The man was arrested and taken to Solon Jail. He blew a .154 on a breath test. He has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired, prohibited BAC, improper right turn, driving in marked lanes and no seatbelt.

OVI, Jan. 28 — A 27-year-old Chardon woman could be facing charges for possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop this week. Police saw the woman commit a lane violation near Richmond Road at about 11:30 p.m. and pulled her over. There was a smell of alcohol on the woman and she had glassy eyes and slurred speech, according to police records. Field sobriety tests indicated the woman was impaired. She was arrested and taken to Solon Jail, where she refused to take a breath test. Police also found a pill bottle with a rolled $5 bill and unknown white powder in the center console of her car. She currently faces charges of operating a vehicle impaired, failure to maintain lanes and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Further charges may be leveled pending the lab results.

OVI, Jan. 28 — A 20-year-old Solon man was stopped for a headlight violation. As an officer approached the car, he saw evidence of drug use. The K-9 Stryker arrived and sniffed the car, alerting the passenger door. Marijuana was then removed from the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were given to the man and indicated he was impaired. He was taken to Solon Jail where he took a breath test and blew a .046. He has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired, operating a vehicle impaired while underage, drug possession and two headlights required.
