Heroin Allegedly Found On Man Stopped By Solon Police

The man reportedly stuck some of the evidence in his mouth during a traffic stop, police said.

SOLON, OH — A man allegedly attempted to consume evidence of his drug use during a traffic stop on June 14, Solon Police said. Officers said they were still able to gather evidence and it was later determined the man was in possession of heroin.

The traffic stop that led to the whole incident happened at about 11:15 a.m. on Thursday. An officer on patrol on US 422 saw a car with a large crack in its windshield. The crack appeared to obscure the driver's view, police said.

The officer checked the car's plate and found the owner had a suspended license. The car was pulled over on Harper Road, in front of Nestle.

The driver, Larry Bartlett, 36, of Garfield Heights, did have a suspended driver's license, police said. Officers said they saw open container of alcohol on the floor of the car, and a folding knife beside the leg of the driver. Five syringes, 48 small zipper bags with a devil face on them, a digital scale with white powder residue, a small spoon, and three empty plastic vials were also reportedly found in Bartlett's car.

When police went to remove Bartlett from the car, he allegedly took a small baggie from his waistband, tore it, emptied most of the contents onto the floor of the vehicle, and then put the bag in his mouth. Police tested the contents of the bag, they said, and it was confirmed to be heroin.

That woman is being charged with possessing drug abuse instruments, possession of drug paraphernalia, no seatbelt and is also being held on several warrants, police said.
