Holiday Season Burglary: Jewelry Stolen From Solon Home

The suspect forced their way through the front door of the home.

SOLON, OH — Police are investigating a burglary of a Lansdowne Drive home that was reported Wednesday. The homeowner came back to their house to find someone had forced their way through the front door and stolen jewelry.

The detective bureau investigated the crime scene and will be following up on the incident. Police also helped a resident get a refund last week.

A 29-year-old resident on Deer Run Oval got a flyer for a snow removal company in November. He contacted the company, Got Snow!, got a quote for $200 and paid for the first half of the season ($100). However, when recent snow storms hit the area, no one ever plowed the resident's driveway, according to police records.

When the resident tried contacting the company, he couldn't get anyone on the phone.

The resident then got suspicious and started investigating the company. He found numerous complaints on scam websites about the business, as well as Better Business Bureau. The company had previously been called: the Snow Plow Guys, Empire Snow Removal and Natural Science Landscaping. All companies have an F rating through BBB, Solon Police said.

A Solon cop contacted the owner of the company on behalf of the resident. The owner said his company was having mechanical issues during the time of the snowfall and promised to refund the money. The owner then followed through and refunded the resident his money.

Police say that closed the book on that case.
