Intoxicated Solon Man Resists Police

The man had been drinking and stormed out of his family's home. When police tried to bring him back, he resisted.

SOLON, OH — Family affairs sometimes get out of control. For one Solon family, a bad mix of alcohol and concert music led to an escalating police incident on June 2. Read on for more information on that incidents and others from last week.

Theft, June 1 - Loss prevention officers at Marc's detained a 67-year-old Solon woman who was seen placing numerous items in a cart before leaving the store without paying. Shirley Humphrey was issued a misdemeanor citation for theft for taking $32.24 worth of merchandise.

Obstruction, June 2 - Police were called to a SOM Center Road address for a resident reporting their son was intoxicated and out of control. The entire family had been at Blossom Music Center for a concert and had all consumed alcohol. The son became aggressive toward his brother and others in the family. This dispute continued at home until the son, a diabetic, left the house on foot. Family said there was an immediate need to contact him because of his health issues. Officers located him in the neighborhood several times, but he ran away each time. Police were finally able to approach him but he remained hostile and aggressive. The son was detained for safety. Jarred Baisden, 22, of Solon, was arrested and charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

OVI, June 2 - Manav Raj, 47, of Solon, was arrested after Solon dispatch got a call about a car going east on US 422 driving erratically. Police located the vehicle going south on SR 91. The vehicle was stopped and police saw cues that Raj was impaired. He was arrested and refused to take a breath test.

OVI, June 3 - Police arrested Leroy Hooks, 30, of Cleveland, after he failed to stay in his lane while driving. Field sobriety tests indicated Hooks was impaired and he was arrested. He took a breath test and blew a .131. He was charged with OVI, prohibited BAC, failure to maintain marked lanes, open container, and possession of marijuana. Police also found suspected crack cocaine in his possession.

Theft, June 3 - Someone entered a 36-year-old Maple Heights' residents's room at Homewood Suites, 6085 Enterprise Parkway, and stole earrings from her room. The earrings are valued at $850. The detective bureau is reviewing the case.
