Intoxicated Woman Nearly Hits Car In Solon: Police

According to police, the woman tried to argue that she was drifting out of her lane because of a feature on her car.

SOLON, OH — Police stopped a car that was weaving over lanes on SOM Center Road. The driver told officers that she drank a "little bit" of alcohol before hitting the road, according to police.

While on patrol at 10:40 p.m., an officer spotted a car drifting out of its lane and then swerving back, police said. At one point, the car nearly hit a passing vehicle. Police decided to pull the car over and talk to the driver.

The driver, a 51-year-old Twinsburg woman, smelled strongly of alcohol, according to Solon police. The woman was asked why she was driving so poorly and she told an officer she had "the automatic thing going."

When asked what the "automatic thing" was, the woman seemed confused, police said. She began motioning with her hands and arguing that lane departure was a feature of her car, according to police reports.

The woman was asked where she was coming from and police said she struggled to answer, eventually saying, "downtown, um, um, like work, downtown Willoughby." She then told police she had drank a little bit while downtown.
