Intruder Refuses To Leave Solon Home, Hangs Out On Porch

Police had to arrest a 30-year-old Mexican man after he was found at a Richmond Road home. He may now be wanted by ICE.

SOLON, OH — Police had to arrest a 30-year-old Mexican man after he set up camp at a Richmond Road home, that was not his, and refused to leave. The man may have been intoxicated, according to police records. It is possible ICE may now be targeting the man for deportation, Solon Police said.

At about 8:45 p.m. on March 4, police got a call saying there was a mysterious man hanging out on the porch of a Richmond Road home. The man was allegedly refusing to leave. The residents of the home said they had never met the man before.

Officers went to the house and found the man, intoxicated, on the porch. The man allegedly lied to police about who he was. Police then had trouble identifying the man, but arrested the 30-year-old for trespassing and disorderly conduct.

The man was later identified as Melchor Gaspar, of Mexico. He has also been charged with falsification and a detainer has been placed on the man. He may be a deportation target for ICE, though his current status is unknown, a Solon Police spokesperson said.
