Loaded Gun Found In Speeding Car Stopped In Solon

Police said there was also an open bottle of tequila in the car, but the driver did appear to be impaired.

SOLON, OH — A speeding car was stopped by police on Sunday. The driver had a loaded gun in his glove box and was taken into custody by officers.

On April 6, while on patrol on US 422, an officer clocked a car driving 79 mph in a 60 mph zone. The officer turned on his lights and stopped the vehicle.

There was an open bottle of tequila sitting in the passenger's compartment of the car, police said. The driver said he had drank some of the tequila during the course of the evening. However, field sobriety tests indicated the man was not impaired, police said.

Officers searched the car and found a loaded firearm in the glove compartment. The driver did not have a permit for the weapon. The driver was also barred from owning a weapon.

The driver, a 34-year-old Solon man, was arrested on suspicion of having a weapon under disability, police said.
