Longtime Solon Board Of Education Member Resigns

And the school district needs to find her replacement...quickly.

SOLON, OH — Margo Morrow has served the families and students of Solon and Glenwillow for more than two decades as a member of the Board of Education. Effective Tuesday, July 3, Morrow will no longer be part of the Board.

Morrow resigned her position because she has sold her home in Solon and is moving out of the area, the district announced on Tuesday. Her work for the Board was praised by Solon Schools' Superintendent Joseph Regano, who said she provided consistency, student-focused leadership and was an ardent supporter of arts programming.

“Margo has been a tireless champion of the Solon Schools,” said Board of Education President Julie Glavin. “In our deliberations on the Board, she has always put students first and advocated for a well-rounded educational program for all students. On behalf of the entire Board of Education and the Solon Schools community, we thank her for her many years of service.”

The departure of Morrow will set into motion the process for finding her replacement. “There is a prescribed set of steps for situations such as this,” Regano explained. “A Board member’s resignation starts a 30-day clock. A successor for Mrs. Morrow must be agreed on and named by the Board in 30 days (August 1), or the matter would go before the Cuyahoga County Probate Court for a replacement to be appointed.”

Despite the relatively quick turnaround period, the Board is also barred from voting on replacement candidates for 10 days. During this window, community members that are interested in joining the Board of Education are encouraged to contact the district.
