Nestle Exec To Speak At Solon Awards Ceremony

Mike Nelson, the VP of Technical & Production for Nestle, will speak at the Western Reserve Safety Council (WRSC) Safety Awards.

SOLON, OH - From the Western Reserve Safety Council: Mike Nelson, Nestlé, VP Technical & Production, will be the keynote speaker at the Western Reserve Safety Council (WRSC) Safety Awards and CEO breakfast, May 2, 2018 at the Mustard Seed Market, 6025 Kruse Drive, Solon, at 7:30 a.m. The breakfast fee is $25 for WRSC members and $27 for non-members and is open to the public. All members are able to bring a non-member guest for free. Member companies will be recognized for demonstrated safety performance through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) and as well as the people and initiatives that advance safety in their organizations, including Safety Employee of the Year awards.

Michael L. Nelson Jr., is the Vice President of Technical & Production with responsibility for Baking and Foods Manufacturing which consists of over $5 billion in sales revenue and more than 7500 employees across ten manufacturing facilities. Mike also has dotted line responsibility for all functional areas supporting Baking and Foods Manufacturing, Tribe Mediterranean Foods Manufacturing and Freshly Manufacturing which includes Co-Manufacturing, Engineering, HR, Operational Finance, Quality Management, Safety, Health & Environment and Technical Applications.

Mike started his career with Nestlé in Solon, Ohio 28 years ago as an Industrial Engineering Co-Op. He has relocated 12 times and held various positions across the US, including involvement with the construction and start-up of a new plant in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 2003, and at the global headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial & Systems Engineering and a Master of Business Administration both from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He also completed the Mastering Technology Enterprise program at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland and earned a strategy & innovation certificate from Case Western Reserve University.

Mike is a native of Cleveland and attended Benedictine High School.

The WRSC, which is open to all area businesses, not-for-profits and government entities, was established in February 2014. The mission of the safety council is to provide a forum for the presentation of health and safety issues and exchange ideas and concepts for best practices in the workplace with an emphasis on regulatory compliance.
