No Arrests Made During Solon Sobriety Checkpoint
Police said they checked nearly 700 cars and only issued one citation.
SOLON, OH — Solon police did not make any arrests for impaired driving during their sobriety checkpoint on Friday night. Nearly 700 cars passed through the checkpoint throughout the evening.
The sobriety checkpoint was held on SOM Center Road, in front of Orchard Middle School. Police were stationed at the checkpoint from 9 p.m. until 12:35 a.m.
According to Sergeant Roy Cunningham, 440 cars passed through the checkpoint going south, and 258 cars passed through going north. All 698 cars were checked by police, and only 26 were diverted for further investigation.

No one was arrested for operating a vehicle impaired and no cars were towed, Cunningham said. However, one person was cited for driving with a suspended license.
Police said the it took cars, on average, 35 seconds to pass through the checkpoint.

In total, 15 Solon police officers, three Solon police auxiliary officers and five civilians were involved in running the checkpoint.
