Number One Ranked Solon Football Loses to St. Ignatius in Regional Semi-Finals

The Comets dropped the game 31-17.

SOLON, OH - The dream is over in crushing fashion. After a magical season that saw the Solon Comets roll through regular season play to the tune of a 9-1 record, the football season came to an unceremonious ending when the team lost to perennial contender St. Ignatius in the regional semifinals.

The Wildcats won the game 31-17. The contest was played at Mentor Stadium, a neutral site, though the Comets were the home team. St. Ignatius will now play their hated-rival St. Edward's in the regional championship, a game that will surely attract heaps of attention.

For the Comets, there is nothing to hang their heads about. The season was a certified success. The team dominated the regular season and demolished Canton GlenOak in the first round of the playoffs. Dropping a game to a powerhouse like St. Ignatius is not a shameful occurrence.
