Oasis Yoga Spa Now Open in Solon

The new spa is located at 33180 Station Street in Solon

Solon's new yoga spa is open and already filling up classes.

While Oasis Yoga Spa owner Janice Hanrahan says the classes are filling with students, there are still some finishing touches to make, such as decorative painting on a few of the walls, and they are still waiting on the inferred sauna system to come in.

Trendy clothing attire lines the front entrance and green yoga mats are also available for purchase. Plush dark blue pillows and white blankets are stocked in the back for use during class instruction. The sheer, New Age water fountain resonating constant trickling sounds brings a calming effect to customers entering the yoga spa.

Classes are under way and being held regularly. On June 2, Hanrahan taught a Zen Flow Yoga class, leading students on a journey of slowly transitioning the body from one position to the next with a pleasant mix of breathing exercises.  She focuses each student’s attention on parts of their body and then relaxing them.

“All the classes get the student's mind to be more aware and in-tune to the body," Hanrahan said. "The Zen Flow class is more of a shading-away process as opposed to a building-up process.  The Vinyasa Flow is a little more of a rigorous practice. There’s more of an inner heat fire to get a healthy sweat glow. It builds a little more endorphins and energy, you hold posses so it builds strength and stamina. Whereas the Zen flow is about stretch, release, and let go."

Hanrahan also said that she is trying to keep a range of classes available to cater to different types of students with different yoga preferences.  While she likes to offer diversity in her class options, they all drive back to the founding principal of yoga, getting the mind to be aware of the body.

The real question is: How does Oasis Yoga Spa compare to other yoga studios in the area?

“I think the studio is very different from others, it feels very calming and nurturing,” said Andrea Thomas, a yoga student.

Thomas said she is taking classes at Oasis is because of Hanrahan.

“I found Janice’s class about two years ago," Thomas said. "I just really like her approach, and the way she lets you make the practice so tailored to you. It’s slower, and more mindful than other instructors. So I try to come to her classes whenever I can."

Shortly after the class, Jackie Lurie from Beachwood said she found out about Oasis through the Jewish News and came in to investigate the studio for herself because she thought it might be nice to go somewhere a little closer to home.

Come stop by Oasis Yoga Spa, check it out, and try a few classes for yourself. The class schedule can be found on-line at the Oasis website, or register on your first visit to the store.
