Ohio's 14th District (Which Includes Solon) Profiled By Politico

SOLON, OH — Rep. David Joyce, Republican, has represented the Ohio 14th District, which includes Solon and Mentor, since 2013. As the 2018 general election approaches, he faces a stiff challenge from attorney Betsy Rader, in a race that's being monitored by national outlets.

Politico looked at the race between Joyce and Rader and rated it as "likely Republican," partly because President Donald Trump carried the OH-14th with 54 percent of the vote. Still, Rader is making an aggressive push.

Rader has scheduled a town hall listening session on healthcare issues, to be held in Kirtland on Monday. She's been stumping and collecting endorsements from famous Democrats, including the Sierra Club, the Giffords gun safety organization, and CNN has declared the race as "leaning Republican" (one step away from a toss-up district).

“I’m really proud of the energy surrounding our campaign. Nearly every night I’m in a new living room filled with great people — many of them attending their first-ever political event — who are ready to change what’s going on in Washington,” said Rader in a press release.

Joyce is taking the challenge from Rader seriously, and was stumping at the Geauga County Fair over the weekend, and also appeared with Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jim Renacci. His efforts have impressed some national analysts: the Cook Report and RealClearPolitics are rating the OH-14 as a "likely Republican" district.
