Open Bottle Of Vodka, Cocaine Devices Found In Solon SUV

The driver was passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle in the parking lot of the Market District, police said.

SOLON, OH — An open container of vodka and items used to ingest cocaine were found in the car of a woman that was passed out at Market District on July 8. An off-duty officer spotted the woman and alerted police.

The woman was seen slumped behind the wheel of her car in the grocery store parking lot, police said. It was 6 p.m.

An officer arrived at the scene and saw a 51-year-old woman in the car. He tried to wake her up because her red Mercedes SUV was still running. Unfortunately, the doors to the vehicle were locked and the cop had a hard time rousing the woman.

When the 51-year-old eventually woke up and opened the doors, police said there was a pungent odor of alcohol. There was a bottle of Absolute Vodka on the rear floor board of the SUV. The bottle had been opened and was half-empty.

The woman was put through a series of field sobriety tests, which indicated she was impaired. She was then arrested and taken to Solon Jail, where she refused to take a breath test.

Police found two plastic straws, a rolled up $10 bill and a small glass vial, with a spoon attached to the lid, in the woman's purse. Those are all items typically used to ingest cocaine, police said.

The woman was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, driving under suspension, open container in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
