Open Vodka Bottle Found During Solon Traffic Stop: Police

The driver denied drinking alcohol, but police said she an open bottle of vodka in her purse and a cup with alcohol in it.

SOLON, OH — A Solon woman refused to take a breath test after being stopped for suspected drunken driving. Police said they found an open bottle of vodka in the woman's purse, and an insulated cup containing fruit juice and alcohol.

Police stopped a car at midnight on Pettibone Road. Officers said they saw an equipment violation on the stopped car.

The driver — a 45-year-old Solon woman — smelled of alcohol, police said. She had bloodshot and glassy eyes, according to Solon officers.

The woman denied drinking alcohol. She told police she was driving home from her job as a bartenders.

Field sobriety tests were administered and it was determined the woman was impaired. Officers arrested the woman on suspicion of drunken driving and took her to Solon Correction Center.

At the Correction Center, the woman was offered a breath test and refused to take it. Police then searched her vehicle and found the open bottle of vodka and the cup with fruit juice and alcohol. Officers said they saw the cup in the cup holder of the car when they first approached. The cup was then found in the woman's purse.
