Police Seize Weed From Solon High School Students

Two Solon students made marijuana brownies to sell to fellow students for profit.

SOLON, OH - Two students at Solon High School planned to sell marijuana brownies to classmates for cash, police say. Representatives of the high school contacted police who seized the brownies and $185 in cash.

Police say a 16-year-old male student supplied marijuana for baking the brownies. A 16-year-old female student planned to do the baking and then to sell the brownies for profit at the school.

School officials and police conducted interviews with students and were able to retrieve much of the alleged marijuana brownies, along with the cash. The case has been forwarded to the Solon juvenile officer.

A spokesperson for Solon Schools said the district cannot comment on what disciplinary actions will be taken against the students, but did say the student handbook dictates that bringing drugs onto school property could incur a lengthy suspension.

"Our Solon community is a great community of kids and families but we deal with the same issues that other schools and other communities deal with in terms of the pressures of drugs and alcohol," the spokesperson told Patch.

The Solon Schools do offer various education programs on the dangers of drug use, but the spokesperson says it is also important for parents to get involved with children and have conversations about drug risks.

"We are committed to drug-free schools and we will do whatever it takes to make that happen," the spokesperson said.
