Possible Heroin Incident In Solon
After hitting a utility pole and a collection of garbage cans, the driver of a car fell asleep sprawled across the front of his vehicle.

SOLON, OH — Solon Police dealt with two possible drug incidents last week. The first saw a man swerving across the road, hitting a utility pole and garbage cans, before passing out behind the wheel. Police found a needle in his car.
The other incident saw a man hit the median on US 422 east before slipping into unconsciousness. Rescue squads had to revive the man with Narcan. Read on for more information on those incidents and others from the past week.

Improperly Handling Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, July 6 — Police stopped a car on Solon Road for having dark, tinted windows. When approaching the vehicle, the driver told the officer that he had a concealed carry permit and the gun was in the glove box. However, during the traffic stop it was discovered that the driver, Michael Cromwell, 32, of Maple Heights, was driving with an expired driver's permit. Cromwell was then arrested and charged with improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and prohibited window tint.
OVI, July 7 — Callers reported an erratic drive on Miles Road near the Miles Farmers Market. Witnesses said the vehicle was driving off the road, hit a utility pole, and then continued to West Woodall where it hit garbage cans before rolling to a stop. Police found the driver, Mark Stouffer, 36, Euclid, sitting in the driver's seat, slumped over the passenger seat, apparently asleep. Police roused Stouffer and the man was extremely confused, telling police he thought he was in Mentor before nodding off again. Solon Fire and Rescue came to the scene and took Stouffer to the ER. He later admitted to using heroin. A needle was located in the sunglasses holder of his vehicle. Stouffer was charged with OVI and possessing a drug abuse instrument. Additional charges are waiting on lab results.

OVI, July 8 — Police were called to the area of US 422 east for a man that had drive off the road, into the median, and was no unconscious. When police arrived the man was unresponsive and had a bluish tint to his skin. Solon Fire and Rescue arrived and gave the man Narcan and he eventually began to regain consciousness. He was transported to the ER and later discharged. The man was then taken into custody, but refused to take any chemical tests. Frank Massingill, 45, of Burton, was charged with OVI, a felony due to prior convictions. He was additionally charged with driving under suspension.
OVI, July 9 — Police also arrested Scott Steinmeyer, 31, of Solon, after he reportedly struck a sign on Bainbridge Road then drove to an address on Creekside Trail. Police arrived and found Steinmeyer at the address looking at the damage he had caused by striking a water spigot with his car while trying to pull into the garage. He was confused and smelled of alcohol while talking to police. He was arrested and refused to take a breath test. He was charged with OVI.
