Prisoner Busted Bringing Drugs Into Solon Jail
The man tried to smuggle 16.9 grams of marijuana, packaged in 15 individual clear plastic bags, into Solon Jail.

SOLON, OH - Bringing drugs into a correctional facility is a felony offense. One man found that out the hard way when he tried to smuggle marijuana into Solon Jail on Jan. 11.
OVI, US 422 WB: Police arrested a Brunswick woman following a traffic stop on US 422 west. The woman was pulled over for failing to maintain a lane of travel. When officers spoke to her, there was a strong smell of alcohol undulating of of her. Field sobriety tests indicated she was intoxicated and police arrested her. She submitted to a breath test at jail and blew a .05. She was charged with OVI and Failing to Drive in Marked Lanes.
Drug Abuse, US 422 WB: A Bedford woman was swerving on US 422 west before police pulled her over. The driver, a 23-year-old Bedford woman, was driving with a suspended license. Police found schedule II drugs and marijuana on her person. She was charged with Driving under Suspension, Marked Lanes, Drug Abuse, and felony Drug Possession.

Theft, Market District: Thieves again hist the Market District, 34310 Aurora Road, and were again stopped by loss prevention officers. A 66-year-old Cleveland woman bagged groceries and then tried to leave the store without paying for them. She was stopped by loss prevention and a Solon police officer that was working security.
Fleeing & Eluding, US 422 WB: Bainbridge Police reported a Silver Hyundai had been involved in a theft from the Bainbridge Home Depot and was fleeing. A Solon police officer saw the vehicle on US 422 west and attempted to stop the vehicle. The Hyundai sped off at a high speed and a pursuit was terminated west of Solon. A license plate was obtained from the car and information about the driver. That information has been turned over to Bainbridge police.

Aggravated Trafficking, Solon Jail: A prisoner at Solon jail attempted to bring drugs into the jail at 7 a.m. Veto Zamon Smith, 33, from Warrensville Heights, was brought in by the Shaker Heights Police Department for commitment and, during booking, officers smelled marijuana. Shaker officers asked Smith if he had drugs on him. They told him that bringing drugs into a correctional area is a serious offense. Smith denied having drugs. Solon Police asked the same question and Smith again denied having drugs. During a search of Smith, a clear plastic bag containing 16.9 grams of marijuana, packaged in 15 individual clear plastic bags, fell from inside his right pant leg onto the floor. He is charged with Conveyance of Drugs into a Correctional Facility and Aggravated Trafficking in Marijuana, both felonies.
