Pumpkin Thieves Busted In Solon

Pumpkins went missing from homes near Fox Run Drive. An SUV full of juveniles were the prime suspects.

SOLON, OH — Tis the season for pumpkin thieves. Decorative pumpkins went missing from outside homes near Fox Run Drive last week. Callers reported the thefts and police investigated. To the surprise of no one, four juvenile boys were the prime suspects.

OVI, Oct. 6 — Police stopped a 28-year-old woman from Mentor for weaving and driving left of center on Pettibone. The woman turned town Southwoods and stopped on the cul-de-sac. Officers followed her down the street and the woman then pulled into a driveway. An officer approached the woman and saw she had red, bloodshot eyes. She smelled of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were administered and indicated the woman was impaired. She was arrested and taken to jail. A half a gram of marijuana was found in the woman's possession. Another 5.5 grams was discovered in a glass jar in the woman's vehicle. The woman refused a breath test. She was charged with a operating a vehicle impaired, failure to maintain lanes and possession of marijuana.

OVI, Oct. 7 — Police received a call of an erratic driver. Officers found the suspect car on Harper Road entrance ramp to US 422 east. The car was seen drifting over the fog line. A traffic stop was conducted and signs of impairment were seen both before and after field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver, a 64-year-old woman from Maple Heights, was arrested and taken to jail. She was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft, Oct. 10 — Callers reported juveniles stealing pumpkins from the area of Fox Run Drive. An SUV was stopped on Liberty Road, near Fox Run, by police. When officers approached the vehicle, they saw a drape covering large, round shaped objects in the back. The four juvenile males in the SUV said the objects were not pumpkins and they did not know what was under the drape. The pumpkins were then recovered and returned to their owners. A few of the pumpkins were taken to the police department to await their owners claiming them. The incident has been referred to the juvenile officer.
