Pumpkin Thieves Caught In Solon, Police Say
A Solon resident's surveillance camera caught five teenagers stealing pumpkins off a front porch, police said.

SOLON, OH — Five teenage girls were caught stealing pumpkins from a home in Solon on Tuesday night, according to police records. All of the pumpkins were returned to their owner.
At 10 p.m. on October 8, a resident on Dorset Lane called police and said someone had just stolen pumpkins off her porch. The resident had footage of the theft from her home surveillance camera and was able to describe the vehicle the thieves got into — a dark SUV with five people inside, the woman told police.
Solon police saw an SUV matching the woman's description near Dorset Lane and stopped the vehicle. The driver was a 17-year-old girl. There were four other teenage girls riding in the SUV, police said.

In the cargo area of the SUV, there were multiple pumpkins.
Officers asked the driver where she got the pumpkins and she said, "Around." When pressed, and asked if she got the pumpkins from Dorset Lane, the teenager said she had. All five teenagers were then taken into custody.

The SUV was towed from the scene and the pumpkins were returned to their owner.
Police said four of the teenage girls were from Chagrin Falls and a fifth was from Moreland Hills. Police said they will be charged with theft.
