Puppy Kicking Assault In Solon
A trio of people were cited after they gave conflicting stories about a bizarre, violent incident on Solon Road.

SOLON, OH - Solon Police were busy last week. The department responded to a bevy of strange incidents, including a bizarre assault report on Solon Road on March 21. Read on for more information.
Making a False Report, Freeway Lanes: A frantic 911 call on March 19 said that Solon Freeway Lanes was being robbed. Police rushed to the bowling alley, only to find that everything was fine. It was later learned that a cell phone had been stolen and was used to make a bogus 911 call. The phone was found in the trash can in the men's bathroom. The detective bureau is investigating the incident.
Telecommunications Fraud, Cochran Road: A Cochran Road business was the victim of a ransomware attack on March 19. The company discovered the ransomware on March 12 when they were suddenly unable to access any of their business file. Backup files had been encrypted and the business received a message saying they would need to pay money to receive the unencrypted files. A report has been filed with the FBI.

OVI, Aurora Road: Police stopped Kevin Payne, 32, of Aurora, for travelling left of center on March 21. When police checked his vehicle registration, they found his license plate had expired. After stopping the vehicle, police say they could smell an odor of alcohol coming from Payne. Payne also had glazed eyes and an open container of alcohol in the car. Field sobriety tests showed further impairment and Payne was arrested and taken to jail, where he refused a breath test. He was charged with OVI, Expired Plates, Marked Lanes, Open Container, and Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia.
Assault, Solon Road: Two women allegedly entered a 57-year-old Solon man's home, attacking him and destroying his property on March 21. The women were located by police and said they had entered the residence with permission and had been assaulted by the resident. They further claimed that the man kicked their puppy. Gary Manos, 57 of Solon, was issued a misdemeanor citation for Assault for striking one of the females. Victoria Lyle, 25 of Bedford Heights, was issued misdemeanor citations for Assault for striking and spraying Manos with pepper spray, and Criminal Damaging for breaking his front window. The other female, a 17 year old from Cleveland, was referred to the Solon juvenile officer.

Criminal Damaging, West Sharondale: Someone poured sugar int he gas tanks of two vehicles parked in the driveway of a 45-year-old resident's house. The incident occurred on March 19 and there are currently no suspects, police say.
