Shirtless Man Handed Out Money At Solon Grocery Store: Police

Police said an intoxicated man had to be taken out of Market District after he took off his shirt inside the store.

SOLON, OH — A Parma man took off his shirt and handed out money inside a Solon grocery store last week, police said.

According to Solon police records, officers were sent to Market District after callers reported an intoxicated man handing out cash inside the store. When officers arrived, at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, they found the man, shirtless, sitting at a bar.

Management at Market District wanted the man removed from the store. Officers helped the man leave. Police said the man was wobbly on his feet and was slurring his words. His eyes were glassy and bloodshot.

Police tried to give the man a ride home, but the man couldn't remember where he lived. After a while, he gave officers an address.

When police arrived at the home, the man got out of the police cruiser but did not go into the house. Instead, he tried to get into a van in the driveway. Officers called the owner of the van who told police the man was not allowed to be at the house.

Police then took the man into custody for disorderly conduct. While en route to the Solon Correction Center, the man became agitated and began threatening the police officers. He then spit on the windows of the cruiser and banged his head against the window, according to police records.

The man was eventually restrained inside the correction center, police said.

The man, a 25-year-old from Parma, faces charges of disorderly conduct by intoxication.
