Car Chase Speeds Through Solon, Ends In Bainbridge

Police chased a speeding car into Bainbridge on May 15, according to police records.

SOLON, OH — An Aurora man led police on a car chase on May 15. Officers had tried to pull the man over for speeding and the man instead tried to elude officers, according to reports.

The car chase happened at about 9:15 p.m. on May 15. Officers were on US 422 when they saw a car driving 88 mph in a 60 mph zone. The officers decided to stop the car.

Instead of pulling to the side of the road, the 55-year-old Aurora man allegedly sped up and began driving recklessly, trying to get away from the police. He didn't succeed.

Officers were able to stop the man on Bainbridge Road, just west of SR 306, in Bainbridge.

The driver appeared to be impaired, according to police. Officers put him through a series of field sobriety tests before arresting him and taking him to Solon Jail.

Once at the jail the man submitted to a breath test and blew a .001. He also submitted a urine sample because police found prescription medications in his car.

The driver was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and fleeing and eluding.
