Solon Cops Help Homeless Mother, Child
The duo were discovered during a routine arrest. Police then went above and beyond to care for the family.

SOLON, OH — A routine arrest procedure became a running act of kindness last week. Police were called to the West Park RTA to pick up a man wanted for violating a temporary protection order. When officers arrived, they found the man with a woman and child, both of whom were apparently homeless.
Police paid for the two to get RTA passes to Solon. Once there, officers learned from the woman, 22, that she and her son had been travelling with the wanted man to Twinsburg for a job interview. Before she could leave for the interview, her car was repossessed.
Trying to get to the interview, the woman got into a cab but underestimated how much it would cost. She had less than half the fare and the driver of the cab refused to turn over her personal belongings, which had been stored in the trunk. After hearing their story, officers arranged for the woman and her 3-year-old son to stay at the Solon Motel for the weekend, while police worked out an arrangement with a local shelter. Officers contacted Old Navy and the mother and son were provided clothing.
While trying to locate a shelter for the two, officers discovered the mother and son had been entered as missing with Cleveland Police by the 22-year-old's parents in Urichsville. Officers helped reunited the family.
