Solon Has Two Best Middle Schools In Ohio: Ranking

SOLON, OH — Orchard Middle School and Solon Middle School are the best public middle schools in the state, according to a new ranking by Niche.com.

All middle schools were judged in three categories: Academics, Teachers, and Diversity. Orchard and Solon middle schools got "A+" grades in both Academics and Teachers, and an "A" grade in Diversity.

Orchard Middle School was ranked as the No. 1 middle school in the state, earning an overall "A+" grade from Niche. The website found that at least 90-percent of students at Orchard were proficient in reading, while 96-percent were proficient in math (based on state test scores).

Solon Middle School was ranked as the No. 2 middle school in the state, also earning an overall "A+" grade from Niche. Approximately 85-percent of students are proficient in reading, while 94-percent are proficient in math.

Orchard had a slightly smaller teacher to student ratio (18 students to one teacher) compared to Solon Middle (19 students to one teacher).
