Solon High Opening Its Doors To Prospective Students

Parents of parochial and private school students, along with their children, are invited to attend Visit Day on Oct. 4.

SOLON, OH — Next Wednesday, prospective students from private or parochial schools will have the chance to check out Solon High School. The annual Solon High School Visit Day, for Solon and Glenwillow residents, will be held Oct. 4 and is open to eighth grade students considering becoming Comets next year.

The Visit Day isn't just for students. Parents will also be invited to come check out the school. Programming for prospective families will start at 7:50 a.m. and run through 10:35 a.m. Attendees should come into the high school, 33600 Inwood Rd., through the front entrance doors and then check-in.

The agenda will offer individual programming for students and parents. (To stay up to date on local stories, subscribe to the Patch Solon newsletter. As news breaks and the story develops, you will be the first to receive updates from Patch.)

First, both students and parents will meet with administrators and guidance counselors to get an understanding of the high school's offerings, both academically and in extracurriculars. That session will run from 7:50 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.

Students will then have the opportunity to shadow current freshmen through two academic periods. While students are off shadowing, parents will be able to take a building tour, or they can leave and return to pick-up students at 10:35 a.m.

Registration for the event is required, the school says. Students will be paired with freshmen based off academic and extracurricular interests. Solon High School does not offer any other shadowing opportunities throughout the year.

If students are unable to attend the event, parents should still try to attend the introduction at 7:50 a.m.

To register, please contact Kathleen Kinney, SHS guidance counselor, at (440) 349-7307.
