Solon High School Makes Newsweek's List of Best Schools

Solon High School is ranked 113 on Newsweek's annual list of the 500 best high schools in the country

According to Newsweek, is the 113th-best high school in America.

Solon nearly cracked the top 100 on the magazine's popular annual list of the country's 500 best high schools

The magazine's goal was to discover which high schools are best at turning out college- and life-ready students. The rankings were determined by graduation rates, college matriculation rates, AP tests taken per graduate, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP and IB scores and number of AP courses offered.

According to the magazine, Solon High boosts a student-teacher ratio of 17.2 students per class, a 98 percent graduation rate and sends 95 percent of its students to college. On average, each graduate takes more than 3 AP tests and has an SAT score of 1702.

Nineteen Ohio schools made the list, including Mayfield High School and Hoover High School in North Canton.

While Solon High has made the list every year since at least 2006, this year's result is Solon's best rank in that time frame.
