Solon Holding Townhall On Connects Plan

The Solon Connects Plan will strengthen pedestrian and bicycle connections between civic spaces.

SOLON, OH — Officials will hold a townhall meeting this month to discuss the Solon Connects Plan, which will strengthen bicycle and pedestrian trails in the city.

“Through the Solon Connects Plan, we are really striving to strengthen our sense of community and pride in our city through expanded walking, jogging and biking paths that help make Solon a well-connected city for all residents regardless of age or ability,” Mayor Ed Kraus said.

The virtual townhall will be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 20. Representatives from the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission will present all information gathered on the project and then participate in a moderated question-and-answer session.

The county planning commission awarded Solon a grant to boost the Connects Plan. The plan is meant to guide municipal leaders and inspire residents and business owners to rethink bicycle and pedestrian mobility locally.

The plan will examine existing facilities and multimodal infrastructure regionally and within Solon, Kraus' office said. The county has shared a specific website on updates for the Connects Plan.

“The plan will strengthen city amenities and help make Solon an ideal place to call home, to visit and to conduct business. We are very excited about this opportunity, and I am looking forward to sharing more information with our residents about the plan and the progress made so far," Kraus said.
