Solon Jail Cell Wrecked By Man In Custody
The man said he shouldn't be in jail before tearing out a smoke detector, damaging a wall and a bench apparatus.

SOLON, OH — A local man was adamant that he should not be in jail two weeks ago. The man got heated and began tearing at his cell, damaging a smoke detector, a wall and a bench apparatus. Read on for more information on that incident and other recent crimes.
Theft, Nov. 24 — A 63-year-old Monroe Court resident said someone got into his unlocked car and stole his wallet and loaded Glock 27 handgun. Police say there are no suspects.
Criminal Damage, Nov. 25 — A 21-year-old being kept in a Solon Jail detox cell got unruly, bringing police to his cell. The man was upset and kept saying he shouldn't be in jail. During his fit, he damaged a hard-wired smoke detector, one of the cell walls, and a fixture attaching a bench to the wall. He was secured into a restraint chair until he calmed down. He is being charged with criminal damaging.

OVI, Nov. 25 — A man drove off the east side of SR 91, near Sherbrook Park Apartments, rolled his vehicle into a dumpster and pushed the dumpster into another car. When officers arrived at the scene, the 47-year-old Aurora man that had been driving the car reeked of alcohol. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He was charged with failure to control and operating a vehicle impaired. Additional charges may be coming depending on lab results.
OVI, Nov. 26 — Police arrested a 54-year-old Solon man in the parking lot of the Solon Motel, 32575 Aurora Rd., after a traffic stop. The man's car had an excessively loud exhaust and he had failed to stop at a stop sign, prompting police to pull him over. Officers could smell alcohol on the man, and the driver's eyes were red and bloodshot. While speaking with the man, police learned that the 54-year-old's license was suspended. The man was then arrested and taken to Solon Jail. He refused to take a breath test. He is being charged with OVI, driving under suspension and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Theft, Nov. 28 — An off-duty cop working security at Market District saw a woman push a cart of merchandise out of the store without paying for it. The woman then got into a car and left. The vehicle was stopped by police a short while later. Three people were in the car. A 29-year-old Cleveland woman was charged with theft, while a 59-year-old woman and a 48-year-old Clevelander were charged with complicity.
