Solon Police Arrest Two Men for Marijuana Possession, One Had Loaded Gun
One man was asleep in his car behind Panera Bread. He had an open container of beer with him. The other had a loaded gun hidden in his car.
SOLON, OH - Police arrested two men for possession of marijuana this past week in Solon. Both men had scales for measuring the drugs in their car. One was carrying a loaded gun beneath his driver's seat, and the other fell asleep behind a Panera Bread. Read on for more information.
Theft, Naiman Parkway: An employee of Arco Comfort Air, 5325 Naiman Parkway, reported that someone broke into a company van overnight, while it was parked at the business and stole approximately $1,050 in tools. The theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. on January 11th and 7 a.m. on January 12th. The reporting officer will be following up on the crime.
Domestic Violence, Park East: A woman reported that her live-in boyfriend and her began arguing and he then shoved her and locked himself in the bedroom. The man refused to leave the bedroom until the woman called him on his cell phone. The man exited the bedroom with the couple's 6-month old baby. Thomas E. Simpson, 33 of Solon, was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence and Obstructing Official Business. Family and Children’s Services was contacted regarding the two children in the residence at the time of the incident.

Theft, Walgreens: On January 13 at 2:51 p.m. a representative of Walgreens, 6270 S.O.M. Center Road, reported that an unknown female had entered the store and taken $746.86 in perfume before exiting the store without paying for it. A video of the theft and stills of the suspect were provided, which were posted on the Department’s Facebook page by the detective investigating the theft. A Twinsburg detective saw the post and recognized the female from previous cases in their city using similar methods. An arrest warrant has been issued for Laura P. White, 45 of Twinsburg, for Theft.
Drug Abuse, Kruse Drive: Officers were called to 6130 Kruse Drive, behind the Panera Bread, for a man passed out in his car. The vehicle was running and the man was in the passenger seat, sleeping. An odor of marijuana wafted out of the car and there was an open beer in the center console. Officers were able to wake the man. The man lied about his identity, but officers determined the man was Raeshawn Smith, 27, of Bedford Heights. Smith had numerous active warrants for his arrest. Located in the car was a small amount of marijuana, a digital scale with marijuana residue, and an open beer. In addition, officers discovered two paper bindles in his pocket with a powder believed to be Tylenol 3. Smith was charged with Falsification, Drug Abuse, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. The paper bindles were sent to BCI for testing.

Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Glenallen Avenue: Officers spotted a car weaving around Aurora Road on Jan. 16. They stopped the vehicle as it turned onto Glenallen Avenue. Officers could see a glass jar in the cup holder and what appeared to be marijuana in the jar. During a pat down of the driver, officers found a handgun clipped to the driver's pants. There was no gun in the clip. The driver said the gun was stashed beneath the driver's seat. The weapon was located under the seat and loaded with a round in the chamber and rounds in the magazine. A digital scale was also located in the car with marijuana residue on it. Jerome Eursher, 21 of Solon, was arrested and charged with Failure to Drive within Marked Lanes, Improper Handling a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle (felony).
