Solon Schools Ending Academic Year Early
The end of the school year was originally set for June 4. Students will instead end remote learning in May.
SOLON, OH — The final day of school for Solon students will be Friday, May 29, the district announced this week. The final day of school was originally scheduled to be June 4.
High school seniors have already had their last day of remote classes, which was May 8. The rest of the district will get three more weeks of education.
"We are also committed to providing our students with a full academic year of learning opportunities, despite the obstacles posed by the coronavirus pandemic. Ending the school year early is not a decision taken lightly," the district said in a statement.

The week of June 1-4 will now be used to closure activities at individual schools, giving staff and students time to socially distance and collect their belongings. Students will also need to drop-off school materials, technology devices and pick-up personal items and projects.
"Students and families are adapting well to remote learning and everyone is working hard to make necessary changes to address challenges as they arise. Our staff continues to build capacity for remote online learning. We are proud of our students’ accomplishments this year and grateful for the ongoing partnership with our families," the district said.
