Solon Schools Monitoring Extreme Cold, May Close Schools

The district expects to make a decision on school closings by Tuesday afternoon.

SOLON, OH — Solon School officials are closely monitoring current forecasts and will make a decision on closing on Wednesday by Tuesday afternoon.

"As you are undoubtedly aware, the weather forecast for mid-week is predicting severely cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills. We have been closely monitoring the daily forecast," the district said in an email to parents on Monday.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill warning, for extreme wind chill temperatures, on Tuesday morning. The warning will remain in place through most of Thursday. Wind chill temperatures could plunge as low as -35 or -40 degrees. Temperatures are not expected to rise above the negative range on Wednesday.
