Solon Schools Nominated For National Blue Ribbon
Solon Middle School is again nominated for the U.S. Department of Education's National Blue Ribbon award.
SOLON, OH — Solon Middle School has been nominated for the National Blue Ribbon School Award. Only 14 schools in Ohio have been nominated for the award in 2020.
The award is given out by the U.S. Department of Education. This is the second time the school has been nominated. Solon Middle School won its first National Blue Ribbon in 2010.
“Congratulations to everyone at Solon Middle School for this important nomination,” said Fred Bolden, Solon Schools’ superintendent pro tempore. “The Blue Ribbon Schools application process will provide a unique opportunity for Solon Middle School to highlight its engaging learning environment as well as its breadth of extra-curricular programming, which helps students to develop new interests, connect with peers and follow their passions in the arts, athletics, and community service to name a few.”

To qualify for the Blue Ribbon award, Solon Middle School had to achieve results ranked in the top tier of all Ohio schools.
“The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content. The National Blue Ribbon School flag gracing an entry or flying overhead is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning," the U.S. Department of Education said.

Solon Middle School staff is now gathering and submitting the extensive application materials required by the Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon award winners will be announced in the fall.
