Solon Schools Release 2017-2018 Calendar

SOLON, OH - The Board of Education approved the district's 2017-2018 calendar at a recent board meeting. A one-page calendar of highlights has been released and is available to the public. A link to that page will be available at the end of this article.

Tamara Strom, spokesperson for the school district, said the calendar was built with the input of staff, administrators and parents. She said the district met frequently with the Solon PTAs to get their input.

As a result, the district will start school next year about a week later than it did this year. Still, Strom said the district wants to get in the maximum number of educational days before the statewide May assessments.

Here are some of the highlights from the new calendar:

• First Day of School: Monday, August 21
• Rosh Hashana: Friday, Sept. 20
• Winter Break: Thursday, December 21 through Wednesday, January 3
• Spring Break: Monday, March 26 through Monday, April 2
• Last Day of School: Thursday, May 31
