Solon Schools Renew Superintendent, Treasurer Contracts

Joseph Regano and Tim Pickana will be with the Solon Schools through at least 2022 and 2024, respectively.

SOLON, OH — The Solon Board of Education approved new contracts for Superintendent Joseph Regano and Treasurer Tim Pickana this week. The decision to resign both men was unanimous on the Board's part.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Regano and Mr. Pickana continue at the helm of the Solon Schools into the future,” Solon Board of Education President Heckman. “Their leadership continues to be invaluable to our school district and community.”

Regano's current three-year contract is coming to a close. His new contract will go into effect on August 1, 2019 and continue through July 31, 2022. Pickana's contract will also start August 1, 2019, but will continue through July 31, 2024.

Both Regano and Pickana thanked the Board for approving the renewal of their contracts. Pickana said he was surprised how quickly his time with the Solon Schools had passed.

For their part, Heckman and other Board members noted Regano's effectiveness as an administrative leader and the unparalleled success of the district in a variety of metrics and rankings. Pickana was praised for his work protecting and planning the district's finances.

U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Solon High as the best high school in Northeast Ohio, the sixth best school in the state, and the 156th best school in the U.S. (out of 17,000).
