Solon Sobriety Checkpoint Gets 2 Taken Into Custody
Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on May 31. Officers screened more than 600 cars and took two people into custody.
SOLON, OH - Two people were taken into custody for impaired driving during a sobriety checkpoint in Solon on May 31, police announced.
Officers from the Solon Police Department and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office manned the checkpoint. Traffic on SR 43 (Aurora Road) had to pass through the checkpoint. Officers screened drivers from 9:20 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
According to information shared Thursday by Solon police, 608 vehicles went through the sobriety checkpoint. Sixteen of those vehicles were diverted off the road for investigation.

Two drivers were taken into custody for operating a vehicle impaired. One vehicle was towed from the checkpoint, police said.
Officers also issued one misdemeanor citation for having an open container of alcohol, one misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana, one citation driving with a suspended license, and five total traffic stops were made.

Police estimate that drivers were delayed an average of 30 seconds because of the sobriety checkpoint.
