Solon's Holiday Tree Lighting Kicks Off the Holiday Season Nov. 23

Event planners say about 1,000 people typically attend the event.

SOLON, OH - Kick off your holiday cheer with a community tradition on Nov. 23. Solon's Holiday Tree Lighting will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at the entrance of City Hall, 34200 Bainbridge Road.

Attendees will be treated to the music of the Solon High School Band and the Madrigals, each performing your favorite holiday music. Then the one and only man in red, Santa Claus, will help Mayor Susan Drucker light up the city.

After the lighting ceremony, attendees will come to the Solon Center for the Arts for the after-party. There will be performances by the SCA Dance Ensemble, Act II Singers, SHSinfonia and SHS Madrigals. Cookies and hot cocoa will be available.

"The event is so awesome. It honestly kicks off your holiday season with so much cheer," said Allison Urban, SCA's dance department coordinator. "A lot of our past students will come to this event and they’ll meetwith seniors getting ready for college, grandparents will come out with their families, it’s just a great atmosphere."

Urban adds that each year about 1,000 people come to the free event. The event is a collaboration between City Hall, the Center for the Arts, Solon High School and other community organizations.
