State Rep Anielski Encourages Participation in STEM Educational Opportunities

State Representative Marlene Anielski is encouraging middle and high school students to participate in two upcoming free STEM educational opportunities.

Cuyahoga Valley Career Center is hosting a STEM Career Showcase on Saturday, February 8th. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is open to all students in grades 7-12 and their parents.Β  Participants will learn why companies seek STEM knowledge and skills, hear from young professionals in the field, and participate in hands-on activities.

"Most careers in STEM fields require a college degree, and rigorous coursework in high school is required for collegiate success in STEM majors.Β  It is especially important for students to learn about STEM careers while still in middle or high school, so they can have a sense of what career would be a good fit for them and plan accordingly,” said CVCC Superintendent Celena Roebuck. β€œParticipants will gain a realistic perspective and can begin planning their education career path with Cuyahoga Valley Career Center."

β€œThe innovation economy of the future will require today’s students to develop an entrepreneurial and innovation mindset to create the new products and services of the future. Otherwise Ohio’s economic development will stagnate and our best and brightest minds will continue their exodus from Ohio,” said John Klipfel, Executive Director, Entrepreneurial Engagement Ohio. Β
