Stranger Loiters On Soloner's Deck, Parks In Driveway

Police are investigating the incident as an attempted burglary.

SOLON, OH — At about 2 p.m. on July 5, a Solon resident got a shock when she saw a man standing on her back deck. She didn't know the man, so she confronted him and asked what he was doing on her property. The man said he was lost and then took off.

Police are investigating the case as an attempted burglary. That's partly because the man was driving a pickup truck that he had parked in the resident's driveway.

It's also because there's been a slight uptick in attempted burglaries in the city over the past few weeks, with residents on Liberty Road, SOM Center Road and Aurora Road all reporting either break-ins or attempted break-ins.

Near the end of June, there were three burglaries in Solon. Two of the targeted homes were on Liberty Road and the third was on SOM Center Road. In one case, the suspect smashed a back window out and then climbed into the house.

Then, on July 2, two days before this most recent incident, someone slashed a window screen at an Aurora Road apartment and tried to remove the window screen. The resident woke up and opened her blinds, shocking the would-be burglar and causing them to run off.
